A chorus of giggling school girls
Something I learnt today: My mouse is to crappy for addicitive computer games
Something that made me laugh today: The tale I am about to tell
I was working on Saturday when a friend (Erin) asked me my opinion of one of the boys who works at Liquorland (I was later to find out that his name was Simon). This conversation was to prove to Tanya that E is not deluded and that Simon is, in fact, "hot." I agreed (he is).
That was essentially all of interest that happened on Saturday during this shift. Every now and then my eyes would drift into Liquorland (at work I'm always on the prowl for something of interest to look at) and they would fall on Simon. I would begin to giggle because the whole store knows E has a crush on him and it just amused me. According to E no one can keep a straight face when they see this guy for the exact same reason.
Then I get to work today and at some point during my shift T informs me that Simon drove E home from the shift on Saturday. (The only thing faster than the speed of light...) An hour or so later, E tells me the exact same news. Only she gives more detail.
I told him that you like him.
This was apparently news to S, as he had no idea who this "Jude" girl was. It was also news to me. E promised to point me out, as he was working later that night.
I laughed it off, asuming she was joking, hoping like hell that I'd be able to leave the store before E got her opportunity to do such a thing.
Later I see S walking through the store, at which point I lose it. I am actually serving people at the moment and it was just one of those beautiful moments where everything is so funny but you can't laugh. I think, personally, it makes you concentrate on what you're feeling and as such, heightens the experience, but maybe that's just me. I refuse to talk to the next customer or two because I just can't open my mouth.
I conjure up a few miserable images in my mind to calm myself down and eventually continue with the task.
Now, the problem was, I started laughing as S walked into the store. He was yet to come out. E and I were on registers facing one another. I was on the widest exit, so that when S came back with a trolley full of booze he had no choice but to come through my register. Right next to Erin.
I eventually manage to look up from what I'm doing and look E in the eye. She's smiling and talking to S and nodding in my direction. S's response was something along the lines of "Her? Are you serious?" (I am not entirely sure what to make of that...comments anyone?).
So that was interesting. I think S eventually figured out that I was joking, but E tried a little harder to spread this rumour (just to Mark - he doesn't count, he'll take it as a joke) but it's just moments like that that, you know, make you want to kill miscellaneous colleagues. I'm sure you've all felt the same.
